Since retiring from football, playing for the West Coast Eagles, Peter has worked with Swan Districts Football Club (V Swans) as an Indigenous Mentor with the Kicking Goals Program.
The Kicking Goals Program is an initiative run by West Coast Eagles, Swan Districts and BHP Billiton Iron Ore to promote a healthy community through football.
In this role Peter visited Indigenous communities such as Jigalong, a community on the western edge of the Gibson Desert working across programs incorporating football and netball with health, fitness and life skills messages. Peter would support the kids in a way that encourages them to attend school, achieving positive outcomes.
Peter holds a Certificate IV in Community Services, and is a qualified trainer, completing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Peter then joined forces with his brother Michael to help form Matera Waste, which was a career highlight for him, bringing about a unique partnership which focused on customer service, quality, value for money and environmental sustainability.
Peter has recently co-founded the Matera Foundation which creates pre-employment programs for Aboriginal people. These programs have a large focus on healthy mind and healthy body, breaking down barriers and in turn building personal confidence to ensure that candidates are job ready when entering the workforce.
